Republic Of Pie

The Pieman and the Pie Student enjoyed a trip to Liverpool recently to visit the new recently opened Liverpool Museum located down on the riverfront between the Albert Dock and the Three Graces. Free to get in with plenty to see, watch and listen to. Well worth a visit.

We then wandered into town and found one of favourite diners Eddie Rockets was closed and lock up which was very disappointing. However we did spot a newish Moroccan restaurant which we will have to check out soon called Kasbah Cafe Bazaar which seems to combine eating with retailing.

Tate & Rene

Mr and Mrs Pieman on a rare free day, to ourselves went to Liverpool for recreation and ended up at the Tate Gallery at Albert Docks to see the Rene Magritte exhibition before its run ended. Interesting as ever the Tate for the most part is free and well worth a visit. On this occasion the surrealist Magritte was great and funny as well in places.

As ever walking around Liverpool was fascinating and rewarding including bumping into some friends and finding the colourful graffiti below on Cropper Street.

A Brief History of Pies

Not a cookbook but a CD release by the mysterious and fascinating Liverpool band "The Pies". Known for their inventive and huge graffiti around Merseyside in recent years they have released a CD with a collection of tunes, radio interviews and police interviews.

Funny, thought provoking, good music, and a great name means a tasty recipe for excellence. The Pies are playing at the 02 Academy Liverpool on September 11th, 2011. Any pie munchers looking to go?
