A Day Of Glee

Saturday saw the Pie Tribe head to North Wales to celebrate Supergirl Pie's birthday.  First point of call was Bodnant gardens for a few hours wandering around their magnificant gardens. We had never been at this time of year and it was fantastic with an amazing array of Azaleas, Magnolia, Rhododendrons ..... in flower. The weather stayed good and we left later than expected.

From here we headed over to Sychant Pass and the old Conwy Road. We had booked into the Austrian Restaurant in Dwygyfylchi. We had been planning to go for quite a while and were not disappointed. All the menu is Austrian, the staff wear traditional outfits, the music is heavily accordion based with the odd yodel, and the beers are interesting Austrian/German varieties. The food and service was excellent. We look forward to going again.

The only problem with the meal, particularly after the delicious puds, was that we were stuffed. We all agreed we needed to walk it off a bit. With the weather holding and still sunny, if a bit cool, we headed back up Sychant Pass to walk up Conwy mountain. We arrived at the top just as the sun went down which was a great end to a great day.
