Cowards

H.E. Coward of Frodsham: Butcher, Baker & Patisserie. Recently informed to check out this meat based emporium the Pieman made a trip to Frodsham to sample the wares of this well established practioner of the Pie making art.

What a gem with both savoury and sweet versions a plenty to entice our taste buds. As this was our first visit we settled on Sausage Roll (8.5), Steak Pie(8.0) and Pork Pie(8.5) for starters. Handmade, fresh, with good pastry and excellent gravy in the Steak pie this was well worth the visit in the rain.

We shall be making more trips to sample Sue Cowards excellent pastry delights where they also produce personalised pies.
They can be found at 68a Main Street, Frodsham, Cheshire. WA6 7AU. Tel: 01928 733233.

Weird and Wonderful

The continued good weather and public holidays gave the Pie Tribe opportunity to visit Hawkstone Park in Shropshire for the first time ever.

What an unusual and wonderful place to visit. A rocky wooded outcrop jutting out of the ground in North Shropshire with walks, tunnels, bridges, stories, grottos, cliffs, trees, follies, statues, caves, beautiful views, art, owls, rhodedendrons, ice cream and Pork scratchings.

Not sure that we saw everything but we will definitely go back again soon to this beautiful and slightly odd place.

Peaks by Royal Appointment

Many thanks to the royal couple for giving us a day off. As with Williams parents this gave us the opportunity to get out and climb some mountains.

So with a packed rucksack, pie included, the Pieman dissappeared into sunny North Wales to walk up Cader Idris and more specifically Mynydd Pencoed (2,595 ft), Penygader (2,930 ft) and Mynydd Moel (2,831 ft).

Showers in the afternoon were predicted but never materialised. Whilst breezy on the peaks it was very warm with excellent visibilty.
Taking longer than anticipated, mainly due to a lack of physical fitness, I overtook no-one the whole day and was overtaken by everything including a blind three legged dog. I was that tired at the end of the day I forgot to eat my Pie!!!!! Even so it was a beautiful day all round.
